Meeting Kelly Cutrone at Illamasqua

If you had asked me a few weeks ago who I'd most like to meet, I would have answered Kelly Cutrone hands down. I've loved her ever since that first time she appeared on The Hills when she gave Lauren Conrad massive evils for not remembering Hamish Bowles and Lawren Howell's names.

When I found out Kelly was doing her first London book signing at the amazing Illamasqua flagship store in Soho on 18th October, I knew I had to be there.

I didn't arrive until 6pm because of work, and by that point the queue was past the door and spreading out on to Beak Street. However, thanks to knowing a few people in the right places and already owning a copy of the book, I was soon escorted to the front by Kelly's people.

Seeing Kelly dressed head-to-toe in black (naturally), no make-up and in fierce Jeffrey Campbell studded wedges made me terrified for the sake of my life as I approached her! She soon hugged me though (!!), and we proceeded to have a quick chat about what I'm currently doing with my life. She was just lovely and I feel so, so privileged to have been mentored by Kelly Cutrone, even if it was just for a minute.

If you haven't read 'If You Have to Cry, Go Outside', you need to. It genuinely changed my life (no exaggeration) and is without a doubt the most inspiring thing I've ever read.

All proceedings from the signing went to the Sophie Lancaster Foundation.
